A lonesome figure made its way down the mountains looming over Ombra city. Her thin, muscular figure hidden behind a knee length brown coat, her wild red hair sticking out awkwardly from under her hood. A green tinted glass woman peered from inside a sling around the young womans neck.
Rumor glared down at the city growing larger in her field of vision. She detested it, without even clearly knowing why. It was knew. Something she had never experienced before, but that wasn't the reason for her hatred. She visited new villages all the time, wandering the mountains like she did. Sleeping on cliffs was dangerous, and became tiresome after a while. She often felt she had no other choice but to stop by a village she was passing and spend a few nights. Even a stone floor with a door mat was some how more comfortable than the mountain sides. As much as she already loathed this city, she hoped to find at least that here. It had been weeks since she had passed the last village in the mountains. Her stomach was growling, and her whole body ached for a chair to sit in, even for a minute.
As she approached from the mountains above the Ombra, she stared down into the few streets she could see. Most of the roads and alleys were hidden by rooftops, and the walls surrounding it all. From what she could see, this was a busier place than any other place she had ever visited. She tried hard to study the patterns the rooftops made, to work out a mental map of the roads to avoid becoming lost as soon as the managed her way through the gates. That was something else she had never done before. None of the villages in the north had gates to enter through. The villagers trusted the mountains themselves to keep them safe from strangers. Safe from outside danger. From what she heard, someone had made his way in regardless of the terrain. A man who worked what some were referring to as 'miracles'. She didn't trust even the sound of him.
As she set foot on more even ground, moving around the walls to the gates of the city, she set her hand on the tall wall next to her, trying to get a feel for the place. When approaching somewhere she had never been before in the north, she could get a feel for the place just by looking at it. She could tell the attitudes of the people, how they interacted, how they would take to a stranger in their midst. She had become good at telling by the look of the houses who would take her in as help, and who would send her away, or worse. She had no luck getting a feel for this place. The walls seemed to keep all the personality and character of the city inside. She didn't know what to expect as she made her way slowly around the wall, sticking close, looking for a crawlspace to make her way through to avoid the gates until she knew what to expect.
